\n___ Hotel Management Simulation is a group presentation and submission assessment designed to test the students’ ability to manage finance within an operating budget, assess outcomes of team problem solving and decision making, prepare regular progression reports utilizing administration, time management, and conflict resolution skills, evaluate business operations and financial performance through discussion and comparison of results, and demonstrate professional expertise and innovative problem solving skills. The assessment requires each group to present a business case to the owning company as to why the management agreement should be extended for an additional two years. The presentation should include a review of the hotel\u2019s three-year performance, highlighting areas of success, areas that require development, and recommendations for the next two years.

\nThis assessment is a group presentation and submission. Each group will be required to present a business case to the owning company as to why the management agreement should be extended for an additional two (2) years.
\nThe presentation should include a review of the hotel\u2019s three year (3) performance highlighting areas of success, areas that require development and recommendations for the next two year\u2019s.
\nThe presentation needs to include the following elements:
\nStrategy
\n\u2022 What was the overall strategy of the hotel?
\n\u2022 What worked? What did not work?
\n\u2022 What strategy do you propose for the next two (2) years? You may want to continue with the current strategy.
\nHotel Performance
\n\u2022 The hotel performance review needs to include an analysis of the financial and operational performance.
\n\u2022 They metrices used may include the following but not limited to, use your creativity and imagination when presenting performance metrics:
\no RevPAR performance o Market Share performance o GOP performance
\no Staff performance and satisfaction o Customer Satisfaction o ROCE performance o Retained earnings
\n\u2022 You may want to highlight performance metrics or improved metrics performance that showcaes your ability to manage a hotel.
\n\u2022 Projected forecast for the next two years including actions on how you will achieve them. Hint tell the owners how much money you will make them!
\nLeadership Team
\n\u2022 A review of the leadership team performance.
\n\u2022 Propose the leadership structure for the next two (2) years under the extended management agreement.
\nBenefit to Owner
\n\u2022 Emphasize the key benefit\u2019s to the owning company of extending the current management agreement.
\n\u2022 Tie in all the elements to present a compelling reason\/reasons why you should be selected as the management team.
\nPresentation:
\n\u2022 Each group will have 20 minutes to present and should ensure they fill the full period without going over the allocated time.
\n\u2022 There will be a 10 minute Q&A post presentation.
\n\u2022 The presentation must include the above elements as a minimum.
\n\u2022 The presentation needs to be professional and include high impact slides.
\n\u2022 The presentation needs to be structured using an engaging style.
\n\u2022 All team members are required to present.
\n\u2022 This is a business presentation and requires each team member to be appropriately dressed for the presentation, business attire required.
\nPowerPoint:
\n\u2022 Each group will need to submit a copy of the PowerPoint presentation prior to their allocated presentation time.
\n\u2022 The PowerPoint needs to be submitted in PDF format.
\n\u2022 Submission is to be made via link in Moodle.

\nCommunication: A well-structured presentation that is engaging, presenting a clear and concise message.
\nAnalysis: The ability to critically analyse data, information and presenting findings as to why.
\nRecommendations: The ability to generate strategies and action plans that provide solutions for findings unearthed in analysis.
\nConcept Application: Critically reflect how applying strategic business principles can positively impact the hotels performance. .
