If your 2nd submission is unsatisfactory (U), or you fail to submit a 2nd attempt, you will receive an overall unsatisfactory result for this assessment task. Instructions for the Assessor Teachers need to ensure that the students answer reflects the Bench Mark Answers outlined in the Marking criteria.

Scenario (Part 1)

You are currently employed in a Community Centre. Every three weeks the Centre provides group activities to participants to learn and/or maintain their skills in instrumental activities of daily living e.g. managing personal finances.
It is the beginning of a new year. This coming Wednesday is the group’s first meeting to decide what activities or skills the group feel will best met their individual needs.
You have been asked to support the group as well as be responsible for developing and implementing the activities/skills that the group has identified and agreed on.
You will be responsible to identify and organise the resources needed to support the group activities.
Your ongoing role is to attend the sessions and to ensure that the participant’s needs are being meet in the training being provided.
The participants are of an equal skill level, their ages range from 25 to 40. The participants all have very differing personalities which has created challenges for the group in the past.
Participants
Jane is very quiet and sometimes finds it challenging to speak up if she does not understand, she will sit back and not participate as she gets concerned about what people will say or think about her. Jane has a physical disability.
Geoffrey is the eldest in his family and he likes to take control. He can be quite domineering and likes to have people’s attention.
Samantha joined the group just before the program finished at the end of last year. Samantha hasn’t really had the opportunity to build any relationships with the rest of the participants.
Samantha likes to tell jokes and is very jovial
Bethany has strong opinions that women can do whatever a man can do if not better. Bethany likes to take on a challenge and gets quite defensive if a male gets in her way when she is trying to learn or complete an activity
Brett likes his space to be clean and does have trouble if people touch his personal property. He withdraws and isolates himself when he is feeling uncomfortable. He likes others to keep their areas clean as well. He does not enjoy being in a messy room.
Frank is new this year and has not participated with the group. He is new to the Centre and everyone is still learning about what he likes. Frank was born in Indonesia and has been living in Australia since the beginning of last year. English is his second language and his accent is still quite strong. Some workers have trouble understanding him especially when there is a lot of background noise. You have noticed that people will avoid Frank instead of taking the time to ask questions and listen to Frank’s responses.Answer the following questions using the information from the scenario above.
