Assignment Instructions:
Record a 10–15 minute video reflection on your practicum experience, the development of your capstone project, and your personal and professional growth over the course of your RN-to-BSN program. A transcript of your video is not required.
You’re welcome to use any tools and software with which you are comfortable, but make sure you’re able to submit the deliverable to your faculty. Capella offers Kaltura, a program that records audio and video. Refer to Using Kaltura for more information about this courseroom tool.

Describe your use of evidence and peer-reviewed literature to plan and implement your capstone project.
Explain how the principles of evidence-based practice informed this aspect of your project.
Assess the degree to which you successfully leveraged health care technology in your capstone project to improve outcomes or communication with the patient, family, or group.
Identify opportunities to improve health care technology use in future practice.
Explain how health policy influenced the planning and implementation of your capstone project, as well as any contributions your project made to policy development.
Note specific observations related to the baccalaureate-prepared nurse’s role in policy implementation and development.
Explain whether capstone project outcomes matched your initial predictions.

During my RN-to-BSN program, I had the opportunity to work on a capstone project that aimed to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction in a healthcare setting. My intervention focused on the use of a patient education program that addressed the common concerns and questions patients had about their care. The program included multimedia resources, interactive tools, and personal counseling sessions with healthcare professionals.

Feedback received from patients and families was overwhelmingly positive. Patients reported feeling more informed and empowered to manage their healthcare needs. Families expressed gratitude for the educational resources and the support provided to them as caregivers.

The patient education program also helped to enhance the patient experience by fostering a better understanding of their healthcare needs and encouraging them to take an active role in their care. Patients felt more confident in their ability to manage their health and communicate effectively with their healthcare team.

Use of Evidence-Based Practice in Planning and Implementing Capstone Project:

The principles of evidence-based practice played a crucial role in the planning and implementation of my capstone project. I used peer-reviewed literature and empirical data to identify the most effective patient education strategies and to evaluate the impact of the intervention on patient outcomes.

Specifically, there is a need for technology that can help patients better manage chronic conditions, monitor their health, and communicate more effectively with their healthcare team. Healthcare providers should also invest in training and support to ensure that patients and caregivers are comfortable using these tools and can reap the full benefits of technology in their care.

Impact of Health Policy on Capstone Project Planning and Implementation:

Health policy played an important role in shaping the planning and implementation of my capstone project. Specifically, policies related to patient-centered care, quality improvement, and healthcare technology influenced the design and execution of the intervention.

The patient education program aligned with policies promoting patient engagement, education, and empowerment. Additionally, the program was designed to address gaps in patient education and to improve patient outcomes, consistent with quality improvement policies.
