One theory of motivation that can be found in Chapter 10, section 10.1 of the textbook is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.

The major concepts of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory include the idea that human needs are arranged in a hierarchical order, and that each need must be met before an individual can move on to fulfill the next higher-level need. Maslow’s hierarchy consists of five levels of needs, including physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs. The theory proposes that once an individual has fulfilled their basic physiological and safety needs, they are able to focus on meeting their social and esteem needs, and ultimately their self-actualization needs.

Additionally, critics have argued that the theory may not accurately reflect the complexity of human needs and motivations.

The strengths of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory include its recognition of the importance of different needs and the idea that individuals have a natural drive towards self-actualization. The theory has been widely used in various fields, including education, management, and psychology.

A real-life example of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory in action can be seen in the workplace.
