This major project will focus on supporting decision-making by exploring some of the features within Microsoft Excel, including the basic filter, custom filter, conditional formatting, as well as pivot tables. Understanding these features enhances an organization’s ability to analyze large datasets effectively.
Let’s assume that you work for a small business and have been asked to perform the following tasks to aid in various decisions:
Show all information for only customers who live in the North region. Filtering data based on geographic location helps businesses tailor marketing and service strategies.
Show all information for only customers who (a) live in the North region, (b) own their homes, and (c) have only one household member. These filters allow for the identification of specific customer segments for targeted advertising.
Show all information for customers who have at least 4 household members. Large household sizes can indicate higher potential purchase volumes or unique service needs.
Show all information for customers who (a) have spent less than $20 or (b) more than $100. This analysis helps businesses understand customer spending behaviors and adjust pricing or promotions accordingly.

Provide a two-dimensional table that both (a) counts the number of customers and (b) sums the TOTAL PURCHASES of customers by the categories of REGION and RENT VS. OWN. Summarizing both customer counts and total purchases gives a comprehensive view of regional sales performance.

You will need to use Microsoft Excel to complete this assignment. Familiarity with Excel’s advanced features is critical for effective data-driven decision-making.
