A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that occurs when the brain is shaken or jolted inside the skull. This can happen as a result of a blow to the head or body, or as a result of a sudden stop or change in direction. Concussions can range in severity from mild to severe, and may or may not cause loss of consciousness.

Symptoms of a concussion may include a headache, dizziness, confusion, memory loss, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and changes in sleep patterns. These symptoms may resolve on their own within a few days or weeks, but in some cases, they may persist for longer periods of time or even become permanent.
