This discussion explores the principles of research and EBP, and how APNs can effectively implement them in their practice.

Principles of Research and Evidence-Based Practice
Research and EBP are fundamental to advanced practice nursing. Research involves the systematic investigation of phenomena to generate new knowledge, while EBP is the integration of the best available evidence, clinical expertise, and patient values and preferences in making healthcare decisions (Melnyk et al., 2018). The principles of research and EBP include:

1. Formulating a clear, answerable clinical question
2. Conducting a comprehensive literature search
3. Critically appraising the evidence
4. Integrating the evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences

Implementing Research and EBP in Advanced Practice Nursing
