Topic of my dnp program
Implementing Evidence Based Practice for Alcohol withdrawal, dual diagnosis treatment, substance use and mental health in an acute hospital setting.

In my current nursing position as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital, I have observed that there is a significant need for improved care for patients with alcohol withdrawal, dual diagnosis, and substance use disorders. These patients often present with complex medical and psychiatric symptoms, and they can be difficult to manage. In addition, they may have difficulty accessing appropriate treatment after they are discharged from the hospital.

One idea from the literature for a potential DNP project to address this practice problem is to develop and implement a comprehensive care plan for patients with alcohol withdrawal, dual diagnosis, and substance use disorders. This care plan would include evidence-based interventions for managing medical and psychiatric symptoms, as well as referrals to appropriate treatment resources.

The type of support needed from the organization to implement a DNP project at this or any organization would include:

Administrative support: This would include providing the DNP student with the time and resources needed to complete the project.
Faculty support: This would include providing the DNP student with mentorship and guidance throughout the project.
Financial support: This would include funding for the project, such as the cost of research materials and data analysis.

I believe that implementing a DNP project to improve care for patients with alcohol withdrawal, dual diagnosis, and substance use disorders would be a valuable contribution to the field of nursing. This project would have the potential to improve the quality of care for these patients, reduce their risk of readmission to the hospital, and improve their overall health and well-being.
