Pancreatic cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the pancreas, a gland located behind the stomach that produces hormones and enzymes that aid in digestion. Pancreatic cancer is a particularly aggressive and difficult-to-treat type of cancer, with a five-year survival rate of about 9%.

The stage of pancreatic cancer refers to how advanced the cancer is at the time of diagnosis. The stages of pancreatic cancer range from stage 0 (which means the cancer is confined to the pancreas) to stage IV (which means the cancer has spread to other parts of the body). The survival rate for pancreatic cancer varies depending on the stage at which the cancer is diagnosed.

For stage 0 pancreatic cancer, the five-year survival rate is about 100%. However, pancreatic cancer is often not diagnosed until it has reached a more advanced stage, at which point the survival rate decreases significantly.

For stage I pancreatic cancer, the five-year survival rate is about 20%.

For stage II pancreatic cancer, the five-year survival rate is about 7%.

For stage III pancreatic cancer, the five-year survival rate is about 3%.
