Purpose

This discussion evaluates your ability to explain the concept of homeostasis and its regulation through body systems during stress. You will demonstrate understanding of physiological mechanisms and apply nursing knowledge to identify how stress affects patient health and system balance.

Instructions

1. Read Chapter 3 of your course text: “Homeostasis and the Stress Response.”
2. In your initial post (250–300 words):
   • Define homeostasis and describe its importance in maintaining physiological stability.
   • Explain how the endocrine and nervous systems work together in the stress response.
   • Identify one example of how prolonged stress can disrupt homeostasis and lead to a clinical condition relevant to nursing practice (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, or immune suppression).
   • Support your explanation with at least one current, peer-reviewed source (2019–2025).
3. Reply to at least two peers’ posts (100–150 words each):
