Reproductive Rights Advocacy

Reproductive rights are fundamental human rights that include the right to decide whether, when, and how to have children, the right to access safe and legal abortion, contraception, and maternal health care, and the right to be free from discrimination, coercion, and violence in matters related to sexuality and reproduction. Reproductive rights advocates work to protect and advance these rights at the national, regional, and global levels, using various strategies such as litigation, policy advocacy, research, and public education.

One of the leading organizations in this field is the Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR), which uses the power of law to advance reproductive rights as human rights around the world. CRR has won landmark court victories, influenced legal policy and advocacy work, and produced resources and research on reproductive rights issues. CRR also plays a key role in working with and supporting the United Nations (UN) and other multilateral fora to establish and promote sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) as human rights.
