– Gothic Art: This was a style of art that emerged in the 12th century and lasted until the 16th century. Gothic art reflected the religious fervor, intellectual curiosity, and artistic innovation of the medieval period. Some of the most famous examples of Gothic art are the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the Chartres Cathedral in France, and the Canterbury Cathedral in England.

– Black Death: This was a devastating pandemic that swept across Europe in the mid-14th century. It was caused by a bacterium that was transmitted by fleas on rats. The disease killed about one-third of Europe’s population, causing social, economic, and political upheaval. The Black Death also challenged the authority and credibility of the Church, as people questioned its ability to protect them from God’s wrath.
