This paper requires documenting at least three sources in MLA style.

Introduction

This paper aims to provide an overview of a French-speaking country or territory other than continental France, focusing on one or two topics of interest related to the chosen location. The country or territory that I have chosen for this paper is Martinique, an overseas department and region of France located in the Caribbean Sea. I chose Martinique because of its unique blend of French and Caribbean cultures and its rich history.

History of Martinique

Martinique has a complex and fascinating history that has shaped its culture and identity. The island was inhabited by the Arawak and Carib peoples before being colonized by the French in the 17th century. The island became a major center of sugar production and was heavily reliant on slave labor.
